Washburn built the M1S with a solid carved European spruce top, maple back and sides, and a quarter sawn Sitka spruce brace. The maple neck and engineered wood fingerboard provide a comfortable playing platform, while the 13 3/4 inch scale and 20 frets offer a familiar mandolin feel. It comes fitted with D'Addario J73 light gauge mandolin strings.
