At the heart of the Hiwatt Custom 20 Combo 1×12 Custom Guitar Amplifier is a hand wired tube circuit based on Hiwatt's original design by Dave Reeves. Three ECC83 preamp tubes work with a pair of EL84 power tubes to deliver everything from sparkling cleans to rich, harmonically complex overdrive. The amp responds closely to your picking strength and guitar controls, allowing you to move from clean to gritty tones without relying entirely on pedals.
The 2025 version adds two useful tone shaping options. The Bright switch can add extra sparkle to clean sounds or help tighten up driven tones, while the push pull Gain Boost adds more thickness and harmonic character.
