Look, I’ve seen the documentary “Deep Blue Sea” and I know what kind of shenanigans the ocean gets up to… . That said I was a little hesitant to try my new Depths pedal from
Earthquaker Devices. It was scary at first, but I dipped my toe in and was rewarded with calming and pleasant swirling tones. I played around in the shallow end for a while, afraid to go deeper. I then remembered that my Mid-Fi Electronics pedal shared an optical style circuit with the Depths and I could use it to create a bubble around my head allowing me to dive deeper. Shortly thereafter, I was greeted by a friendly octopus that had converted its head into an old-timey diving helmet, she invited me to wear her for further exploration. It felt really cool to to pretend I had 10 arms, well two arms and eight tentacles. This octopus, whose name I cannot pronounce or spell, took me deeper and we explored the depths together. The Voice knob is really great at making things feel softer or harder as necessary. Feeling confident in the ocean for the first time I got a little reckless. I engaged my Mojo Hand FX Stylus. And, while it sounded awesome, whatever was protecting me from the the pressure of the ocean began to fail. Apparently, this isn’t the first time something like this has happened. Shortly, the intelligent beings that live in that trench in the movie “The Abyss” were on hand to bring us to a level where the Stylus wouldn’t crush us. Worth it because it sounded awesome. I learned some things while spending time under the sea. Look, I’m not saying that octopuses are aliens… But they are aliens!
