The Barcus Berry 4000PI uses Planar Wave technology to detect vibrations traveling across the piano soundboard. Unlike standard pickups, it focuses on transverse energy waves while remaining less sensitive to unwanted vibrations along the soundboard's main surface planes. This allows it to capture a full frequency range with balanced output across the instrument. It also provides strong isolation from ambient noise and excellent feedback rejection.
