10 OBNE Pedals to Try in 2025

OBNE Dark Star V3

Buy Now

Main Features

  • Long-trail lofi reverb with pitch-shifting capabilities
  • Built-in filtering, pitch-shifting, and bit-crushing/saturation
  • Built-in feedback loop effect
  • Dedicated freeze trails footswitch
  • Preset bank
  • Stereo I/O

The OBNE Dark Star V3 is a stereo soundscape reverb machine with built-in filtering, pitch-shifting, and bit-crushing/saturation effects, allowing for crazy amounts of experimentation and a very unique sonic palette.

One of the main features of the Dark Star are the pitch knobs: both of them can go from -2 octaves to +octaves. You can get some very interesting results combining them in different positions. If you wish to add a lofi touch to the effect, then the crush and lag parameters can do the trick.

Another feature of the Dark Star that’s worth mentioning is the freeze trails footswitch, which as the name implies, lets you freeze the reflections on the fly, a very useful function if you like to create drones and pads.

As this pedal is very unique and complex, we recommend you watch our demo below to hear what the Dark Star is capable of. In the video, we explore and explain in-depth all of the features present in this pedal.

OBNE Pardner

Buy Now

Main Features

  • Unique-sounding fuzz pedal with a “synthy edge”
  • Dual voices
  • Built-in EQ, filter, and intensity knobs
  • Lasso footswitch (for blending a feedback loop)

The OBNE Pardner is a very unique-sounding fuzz with hints of synthesized sounds. The pedal has a lot of interesting functions, such as dual voices (synthy and fuzzy), and the Lasso footswitch, which lets you activate a feedback loop on the fly, blending the effect with a clean signal or with other pedals.

This pedal also offers many possibilities in terms of routing: you can select whether the send/return or the fuzz effect comes first, and even set them in parallel, which is very useful when using the Pardner with a bass guitar.

In terms of texture, the Pardner is quite resonant and warbly, with a texture that’s full yet cuts well through the mix. While this isn’t a very traditional fuzz, it pairs really well with other effects such as delay and reverb.

OBNE Beam Splitter

Buy Now

Main Features

  • Triple-voiced overdrive with built-in delay
  • Separate controls for each overdrive voice
  • Summed parallel and split output capabilities
  • Expression jack to control Deviate knob

The OBNE Beam Splitter is a triple-voiced overdrive. It can take a mono clean signal and transform it into a huge wall-of-sound, creating an effect that’s similar to studio overdubbing. However, this pedal can also get really experimental when you push it to its limits.

The three overdrive voices are controlled independently, and you can achieve a chorus widening effect with the Deviate knob. When you put the two delay sections into the mix, the Beam Splitter starts to sound like a flanger and/or vibrato and slapback echo.

One really cool feature of the Beam Splitter is that it gives you the option to run the overdrive voices in summed parallel or split output. From there, the possibilities are virtually endless, especially when you pair it with other pedals or run it through your amp’s feedback loop.

OBNE Alpha Haunt Fuzz

Buy Now

Main Features

  • A versatile silicon high-gain gated fuzz
  • Bias and gate controls
  • Enhance function (additional boost circuit)
  • Blendable enhance section
  • Three-band EQ

The OBNE Alpha Hunt Fuzz is, in our opinion, one of the most versatile fuzz pedals in the market nowadays, thanks to the many parameters it offers, including bias and gate controls and a very precise three-band EQ. The tonal range of the Alpha Hunt is quite wide, and it can quickly go from subtle overdrive tones to extreme distortion.

This fuzz also has a trick upon its sleeve: the Enhance knob, an additional boost circuit that can push the saturation further, eliminating the need to pair the Alpha Hunt with other pedals and making it sound extremely good on its own.

The only thing we wished this pedal had was a dedicated footswitch to activate the Enhance boost function, but despite that, it is still one of the most solid and versatile fuzz pedals you will currently find.

OBNE Float

Buy Now

Main Features

  • Dual analog stereo filter pedal
  • Independently controllable filters
  • Dual Volume, Resonance, Rate, Sensitivity, Cutoff, and Shape controls
  • Sync switch
  • Assignable expression pedal control

If you’re a big fan of filter-based effects, you will love the OBNE Float. This pedal offers dual analog stereo filters with independent controls and parameters. Being a very versatile unit, the Float can give you anything from tremolo and envelope to synth-like tones.

Each filter section moves independently from each other, and you can blend the two to achieve very unique results. You can always activate the Sync switch for a more controlled effect, though.

Another very useful feature is the assignable expression pedal control, so you can, for example, make the OBNE Float behave similarly to a wah by controlling the cutoff on the fly, or achieve some crazy experimental tones with the rate parameter.

OBNE Whitecap

Buy Now

Main Features

  • Dual asynchronous tremolo
  • A combination of three-knob analog tremolo and a complex digital tremolo
  • Parallel or in-series routing
  • Tap tempo footswitch
  • External tap tempo expression jack

The OBNE Whitecap combines a simple three-knob analog tremolo and a complex digital tremolo to create asynchronous effects. The result is a pedal that can create anything from volume chops and slow ramps to drifting textures.

This tremolo is quite unique, as there’s no other pedal we know of that offers the same possibilities. Both tremolo sections can be controlled independently, with the digital tremolo offering five different waveforms to choose from.

We also like the fact that you can run both sections either in series or in parallel with the main toggle switch, as well as do ramp effects on the fly with the dedicated footswitch. Adding to the versatility of this pedal, you can also use either of the effects on their own, as a more traditional-sounding tremolo.

OBNE Minim Ambient Machine

Buy Now

Main Features

  • The Minim combines reverb, delay, and reverse effects
  • Pseudo-harmonic tremolo reverb
  • Modulated delay
  • Normal/double-speed reverse function
  • Dedicated reverse footswitch

As the name implies, the OBNE Minim is an ambient guitar powerhouse, combining reverb, delay, and reverse effects in one unit. Each of these effects have their own unique flavor, with the reverb bringing pseudo-harmonic tremolo tones and the delay featuring chorus-style modulation.

You can blend the three sections as you like and you can run them separately if you wish to, but this pedal really shines when you combine the time-based effects with the reverse function, which can run as normal or double-speed.

This is the perfect for creating ambient and ethereal soundscapes, allowing you to do anything from ambience-soaked riffs to drones and pads. We heavily recommend the OBNE Minim to experimental-inclined players and worship guitarists.

OBNE Black Fountain Pedal

Buy Now

Main Features

  • Vintage oil can delay with modern functions
  • Built-in modulation
  • Three delay voices (modern, organ, and vintage)
  • Built-in tap tempo footswitch

The OBNE Black Fountain is a unique pedal based on vintage oil can delays. An oil can delay is a very unique and niche type of echo effect that uses a layer of oil as an internal component. This unit gives you the same tone in a much smaller and easier-to-use form.

The Black Fountain is far from being a transparent delay. Rather, it is filled with vintage textures and sweet sonic anomalies. It is still a very versatile unit though, as you get to choose between three different voices (modern, organ, and vintage).

Despite having a vintage toneprint, this pedal also brings many modern functions to the mix, including highly-controllable chorus-like modulation and a momentarily max out feedback function when you hold down the tap footswitch.

OBNE Sunlight

Buy Now

Main Features

  • Dynamic reverb with infinite trails function
  • Three unique reverb voices (tape, comb, and pass modes)
  • Built-in alt footswitch
  • Assignable expression jack

If you’d like to add an experimental reverb pedal to your setup but the other options are too large and complex, then the OBNE Sunlight is your best bet. This dynamic reverb can do infinite trails until new notes are playing, and offers three unique voices.

After choosing your preferred voice (tape, comb, or pass), you can play with the Input of the Sunlight to adjust the dynamic sensitivity. When you add the Decay knob, things get really crazy and spontaneous, as the Sunlight starts to produce nearly-infinite trails.

One very useful feature of the Sunlight Reverb is the alt footswitch, which lets you quickly switch to a particular knob setting, working as a simple version of a preset bank. The expression jack is also assignable for more possibilities on the fly.

OBNE Excess

Buy Now

Main Features

  • Distortion modulator pedal with built-in delay, chorus, and harmonized fifths
  • Independent switching and routing options
  • Modulation mode toggle switch
  • Dedicated footswitches for Mod and Dist

The OBNE Excess is a unique pedal combining distortion with delay, chorus, and harmonized fifths. It is heavily inspired by the sound of the 80’s, so if you’re a fan of the likes of Van Halen and that huge wall-of-sound tone, you will find yourself at home with this unit.

Each effect can be selected and controlled separately, and can also be activated on the fly via the dedicated footswitches. One nice feature of the Excess is that you can either put modulation first, distortion first, or run them in parallel for a cleaner, more transparent sound.

Another factor that adds to this pedal’s versatility is the ability to use each effect on their own, so you essentially get four independent effects in one unit.
